The
Employers Role | The Occupational Health Service
The Relationship
between the Employer, Staff and the Occupational Health Service.
The relationship between you – ‘the employer’, teachers, SNAs and ourselves – (the occupational health service) can be an enormous benefit to all concerned. The following should be noted in relation to the role of the occupational health department.
- The role of the occupational health department is advisory only. It is up to you – ‘the employer’ to determine whether or not to accept the advice offered.
- Occupational nurses and physicians are bound by professional requirements to maintain confidentiality in relation to medical information. Maintaining this confidentiality is also crucial in retaining the trust and confidence of the employees (SNAs) concerned.
- In relation to any referral to medmark4SNAs, it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the individual being referred is made fully aware of the reasons for referral.
- In relation to any referral to us it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the information provided is factual and is completed on the standard referral form contained in the standard operating manual.
- Reports to the employer from occupational physicians at medmark4SNAs should be regarded as confidential personnel documents.
